M. Hertzel Soumekh, MD, FACS, attended the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iram, and received his medical degree in 1974. Prior to relocating to the United States, he trained at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, Queen Pahlavi Heart Foundation, and the University of Teheran (Iran). Furthermore, he conducted his internship (1975 – 1976) at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT, and his residency in neurosurgery (1976 – 1981) at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. In addition, he completed his fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Soumekh received board certification in neurosurgery from the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Moreover, he attained fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), having met the standards and guidelines required of the nation’s leading surgeons. He his spare time to his family and gardening. Dr. Soumekh is fluent in Farsi and Spanish in addition to English and is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
